Toyota Kenya has reached a deal with City Shuttle to withdraw a case against the automakers Hino Buses.
The consent dated August 14 seeks to remove the city bus from a list 11 complainants including Beauty Wholesale (K) Ltd, Chania Prestige Shuttle Ltd, Martin Mwangi Njoki, Mungai Kinuthia, among others, for malfunctions on the HINO FC500 model trucks and PSV buses.
The vehicles apparently developed fatal engine and overheating problems, brake system failures and chassis cracking during the subsistence of the respective warranties.
Toyota Kenya Limited had been sued alongside Nairobi Hino Limited, Tsusho Capital Kenya Limited and the Kenya Bureau of Standards.
Toyota denied the claims saying the vehicles involved had not been maintained as per its recommendations.
Toyota disputed the claims saying some of its customers who had adhered to maintenance guidelines as set out in the warranty booklet were happy with their vehicles’ quality and performance.
