  1. HIV/AIDS – 15 per cent
  2. Lower Respiratory Infections –  12 per cent
  3. Diarrheal Diseases –  6 per cent
  4. Protein-Energy Malnutrition –  4 per cent
  5. Birth Asphyxia & Trauma – 4 per cent
  6. Stroke –  4 per cent
  7. Preterm Birth Complications –  4 per cent
  8. Malaria – 3 per cent
  9. TB – 3 per cent
  10. Ischemic Heart Disease – 3 per cent.

Number of Kenyans killed by cancer according to the National death registration bureau
  1. It is the third leading killer after infectious diseases and cardiovascular in Kenya today.
  2. It is the cause for 7 per cent of  total national mortality every year
  3. In 2008 there 28,000 new cases with 22,000 deaths
  4. In 2012 there 38,544 new cases and 26,941 deaths
  5. There were no clear records of new cases but in 2016 but there were at least 30,000 deaths reported
  6. An increment of 37.6 per cent  of recorded incidences in the last 5 years.
  7. The leading cancers: Women: Breast (34 per 100,000), Cervical (25 per 100,000), Men: Prostate (17 per 100,000), Esophageal (9 per 100,000).
